What is a Home Health Aide?

A Home Health Aide (HHA) is an unlicensed individual who has successfully completed a NYSDOH/NYSED-approved HHA training program  to become a certified aide and has been entered into the Home Care Worker Registry. HHAs often work in a patients home, hospice facility, or assisted living environments.

Home health aides provide essential support to individuals who need assistance with daily living activities and basic healthcare at home. HHAs primarily work with seniors, individuals with disabilities, and those recovering from illness or surgery, helping them maintain independence while receiving necessary care. HHAs receive training that allows them to assist with basic medial tasks under the supervision of a registered nurse or another healthcare professional.
